Shelf Care: Launching our free online children’s book club supporting reading and mental health

Sharing is caring!

We have an absolute treat for all our readers – we are launching an amazing FREE children’s book club that is designed to encourage reading in our children for positive mental health. We have partnered with the amazing Quarto Kids. We will send you a free eBook every month, and 10 – 20 members will also received a physical copy of the book we are covering too (UK Only). For details on the books for the next six months; check out our Amazon book store.

What will you get in our Shelf Care Book Club

We are hoping that we will be able to bring you fun, education and entertainment within the book club, but specifically we will have:

  • Activity sheets on the books where we are able to produce them in partnership with the publisher, or they already have them (so we cannot guarantee there will always be one for every book we cover),
  • A free eBook every single month to be given to you on the 6th of the month (see later for which books we are going to have for you over the next few months). We are aiming for the books to be relevant to 2 – 9 year olds. The sooner we get that love of reading instilled, the better!
  • Free eBook, audio book and colouring book for the amazing That’s Okay book from Chris Dixon which helps kids to understand and name their feelings. Feeling happy to do this goes a long way to helping kids to become resilient: learning to talk about our feelings helps us all to feel we have more control over them,
  • Exclusive Facebook group to chat about the books that you have, as well as anything else you want to (with kindness of course). We’d love to hear from you, particularly sharing other activities and ideas for mental health, and fun things to do with kids,
  • Exclusive, and relevant giveaways, with one to launch very, very soon with an amazing company we know you will love,
  • A free, exclusive 6-week trial to Readly, which you will get when the first book launches, and
  • Podcasts, we hope, in the future, as long as we get enough interest in the book club to make the time it takes to set these up worthwhile!

Given you get all this for free – why wouldn’t you join up, right?

What books are included within Shelf Care?

We have looked at the amazing Quarto Kids catalogue for 2023, and we have picked some of the best and more relevant books to the age range we are focusing on. We have also picked the books that we think we help kids to both understand the world around them, and to process their emotions too:

If you are joining the club later on in 2023 – let us know – we might still have the eBooks for you!

We think these are all amazing books, and help with everything from understand grief, to improving kids empathy. All of which are going to go a long way to helping kids to develop positive mental health, and to be more OK with talking about how they are feeling.

If you aren’t sure that this free online Children’s book club is for you – no worries at all – drop us a line, and ask anything that you want, and we will be happy to help. Hopefully, we can answer your questions, and you can see if it’s suitable or not.

Helen is a mum to two, social media consultant, and website editor; and this site is (we think) the only Social Enterprise parenting magazine! Since giving up being a business analyst when juggling travel, work and kids proved too complicated, she founded KiddyCharts so she could be with her kids, and use those grey cells at the same time. KiddyCharts has reach of over 1.1million across social and the site. The blog works with big family brands (including travel) to help promote their services, as well as offering free resources to parents of kids under 10. It gives 51%+ profits to Reverence for Life, who fund a number of important initiatives in Africa, including bringing running water and basic equipment to a school in Tanzania. Helen has worked as a digital marketing consultant (IDM qualified) with various organisations, including Channel Mum, Truprint, Talk to Mums, and Micro Scooters. She loves to be creative in the brand campaigns she works on. Get in touch TODAY!
