Dragons are magnificent creatures, albeit mythical in nature we can’t help but be mesmerised by them. Dragons are loved by adults and kids alike, so today we bring you an absolutely beautiful workbook full of dragon tales and activities that your kids are sure to love. The Dragon Ark is a lovely story of the Dragon Protector who you can join on her quest to save the magnificent dragons. The resource pack includes; prompts for creative and conservation challenges, and fun research and reading activities.

Join the crew gallery and look at the different jobs and areas of expertise. Have your kids decide which jobs they would enjoy the most as well as drawing up an advert looking for the perfect candidate for some of the jobs that they feel would be beneficial in saving the dragons.

The next sheet above prompts your kids to set up the job ad to find the right candidate. The sheet below allows the kids to fill in the names and job titles of their chosen crew to help them on their quest.

The Dragon Ark design challenge

Once the crew has been selected it’s time to go into the ark. Take a look at the vessel and discuss the way it was designed, why, and how it will help on the journey.

The Dragon Protector’s Quarters

The next page in the booklet takes us to the Dragon Protector’s quarters. Join in the design challenge and use a computer or a shoe box to create either a 2D or 3D representation of the design.

Deep Sea Dragons

The conservation challenge begins! The next sheets take you around the world and help you discover different threats that the dragons face. From topical challenges in each region to fun creative activities the next sheets are lots of fun for the kids.

Antarctica

Visit the dragons in Antarctica and practise a cinquain, or 5 line poem.

South America

Join the debate about the dragons of the Amazon and have your kids think critically about the creatures of the rainforest.

Europe

Visit Europe and the forest dwelling dragons on your quest. Create your own forest dwelling dragon and your own tale about it too!

Africa

Journey down to Africa and learn more about the 54 countries that make up this continent. Locate them on a map, and organise your research by looking at the population, flag colours, and even the size.

Asia

Lastly, visit Asia and unleash your creative side with a prompt for an artistic challenge.

Finally, create your own board or card game with the instructions and the printable sheets above. We do have our own design a board game ideas elsewhere too, so check those out afterwards as well.
