Baby Nursery Essentials

Below is our list of must have nursery essentials:

For Sleeping

Without a doubt, the most important part of setting up your nursery is providing a safe place for your newborn baby to sleep. When buying your items ensure that they meet current safety standards and that they are in a good, clean condition.

  • Crib
  • Crib mattress (Firm, flat mattress fit snugly in the crib)
  • Fitted waterproof mattress (to protect your crib mattress from diaper leaks and blowouts)
  • Fitted crib sheets (consider buying 2 to 4 sets so you always have a spare)
  • Crib blankets or baby swaddle or sleep sack

For Feedings

A new baby will feed frequently through the day and night, so ensure your nursery is set up to help make this easier for you.

  • Comfortable chair (ideally a rocking chair or glider)
  • Lamp with dimmer
  • Nightlight

For Diapering

Not only will a changing station help make changing your baby’s diaper easier, but it also provides a safe and clean environment for diapering your baby.

  • Diaper change table (or change mat for dresser change table topper)
  • Change mat

For Safety

When it comes to your baby, you will want to ensure they are safe. We recommend using a baby monitor so you can keep a watchful eye on your baby even when you are not in the room.

  • Baby monitor (audio, visual, or both)

For Storage

When it comes to babies you will have a lot of baby gear. From diapers to clothes to toys, you will need to have adequate storage to keep it all in.

  • Dresser (or storage for baby clothes)
  • Storage basket or bin
