The old fashioned burglar alarms are a thing of the past, totally ignored and seen as a nuisance by neighbours. The new approach to home security is to use devices that monitor your home and inform you directly if anything suspicious is detected.

Agreeing with the majority of comments by leaving a light on, and making sure all windows and doors and gates locked. But I also seen on TV recently, that even if you don’t own a dog, buy a huge dog food bowl, a bone and a thick dog chain and leave it the garden, that way a would be intruder will see the dog items and assume you own a huge dog and because it’s not outdoors it must be inside and put them off attempting to break in! Genius idea I think! :)

Last year one of my neighbours was cleaning the windows and left the ladder propped up against the wall when he went out. The burglars used it to climb into his upstairs bathroom window…..yeh, so my advice is don’t do that.
