Have some family fun in your PJ’s on 7th June 2019 with Booktrust

If you are regular readers of KiddyCharts, you know how important reading and books are to the site. We love supporting Booktrust, and have decided to share with you one of their wonderful initiatives for 2019; designed to help raise money so that as many kids can experience the love and books and reading as possible.

As every parent knows, mornings can be very tight on time! Have you ever wished you could just run out of the house in your pyjamas? (We have!) Between kids jumping around, last minute homework, breakfast and getting everyone cleaned up with brushed hair and teeth, there is barely enough time for clothes! Well, do we have some brilliant news for you

BookTrust, the UK’s largest children’s reading charity, has launched a new national mass participation fundraising campaign, Pyjamarama. A day of fun where kids and adults across the country can swap their normal clothes and rock their pyjamas!

On Friday 7th June, everyone from families and nurseries to schools and workplaces across the nation are being asked to wear their PJs all day long and donate £1 to BookTrust so they can continue their work supporting even more families with books and stories. Who knew that supporting a charity could be as fun and easy as popping on your PJ’s for the day?!

Over the next few months (in the lead up to the very exciting day), you may even see of some of the nation’s most loved book characters cheekily wearing their PJ’s and spreading the word for Pyjamarama. BookTrust has enlisted the help of characters including Matilda, Horrid Henry, Tracy Beaker and Ben and Holly to encourage children and parents to join in the fun. If you’re already liking the sound of this, spread the word and sign up for your free fundraising pack here.

All money raised will go towards funding BookTrust’s work in supporting more families across the nation. With just £25, BookTrust could provide 15 pre-school children living in women’s refuge centres with their own book pack, or, £50 could provide 6 families from deprived communities with additional support through their children’s centre to develop a reading habit.

Diana Gerald, CEO, BookTrust said:

“We want to make sure that no child misses out on the life changing benefits of a bedtime story. We hope that people across the country will join their favourite characters in wearing pyjamas for the day and bring in £1 so that we can reach families who so desperately need our support. Wearing pyjamas all day is such a fun (and comfortable) way to show support for reading, and importantly, it’s incredibly easy for school, nurseries, children and busy parents!”

Schools, nurseries and individuals can sign up for fundraising packs by visiting booktrust.org.uk/pyjamarama.

So what you are all waiting for, why don’t you get involved and pop along to the Pyjamasrama pages today and get fundraising, so there are even more kids that can enjoy the power of reading today?

Since giving up being a business analyst when juggling travel, work and kids proved too complicated, she founded KiddyCharts so she could be with her kids, and use those grey cells at the same time. KiddyCharts has reach of over 1.1million across social and the site. The blog works with big family brands (including travel) to help promote their services, as well as offering free resources to parents of kids under 10. It gives 51%+ profits to Reverence for Life, who fund a number of important initiatives in Africa, including bringing running water and basic equipment to a school in Tanzania.
