What is Dreamtoys 2023 all about

This year, they’ve expanded the list to 20 toys, capturing a broader spectrum of play value. These toys were handpicked by their independent panel of toy retailers who know all about what adds sparkle to playtime. They considered play patterns, emerging trends, and price points to create this list. This makes it easier for you to find the best Christmas gifts for kids. We’ve done the grunt work. You can sit back and chill with the egg nog 😂.

In the mix, you’ll find popular toys like Barbie Pop Reveal, Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle & Grounds, and Super Mario’s Bowser. These gems are expected to fly off the shelves, so we recommend shopping early!

Remember, gift guides like these influence a large portion of toy purchases during the festive season. With the UK toy industry offering a competitive market, you can find quality presents at affordable prices.

“The crew’s decision to expand the DreamToys top list to 20 toys is a nod to the fabulous range of products currently available in the market,” shared Paul Reader, captain of the DreamToys selection committee. “Christmas is a magical time of the year, especially for children, and this list offers gift givers an authoritative and independent view on what we believe will be the most wished-for toys to help make that crucial purchasing decision.”

“From the year’s biggest blockbusters, tech-inspired crossovers and toys that promote sensory exploration to products that spark curiosity and anticipation, this year’s list reflects the best of what the UK toy industry has to offer. The top 20 will be hot commodities, so if families have a specific product in mind, my advice is to shop early to avoid disappointment. However, if you’re simply looking for inspiration, I’d encourage everyone to visit their local toy shop and chat with experts who can help suggest the perfect gift for under the tree.”

Personally, on KiddyCharts, we are particularly fond of the sensory toys, due to our focus on neurodivergence within the site. The Fluffie Stuffiez Plush toys are wonderfully sensory for those that seek touch stimulation. Being able to pick off the soft fur to reveal a new secret toy is simply, genius. They are pretty dam cute too 😂

The Twister Air is also another good toy for improving movement and balance. This can be beneficial for those looking for sensory movement stimulation. It is also great to help improve information processing as well – and co-ordination. LEGO is always a firm favourite in our house. Both Harry Potter and Star Wars making an appearance, the list is onto a winner!

Melissa Symonds, Executive Director of UK Toys at Circana (the toy data tracking wizards), also said, “With more than £1bn spent on toys each Christmas, the festive season remains the most exciting time of year for the toy industry. Much of this spend is influenced by gift guides, with 55% of parents saying they use toy lists as guides to buy gifts for their kids.”
