5 reasons laminate flooring is perfect for the home (that Mrs Hinch didn’t think of)

As you know, we like to take a bit of a light-hearted look at parenting from time to time. An we can’t help but notice that there seems to be a bit of a cleaning frenzy sweeping the planet at the moment thanks to a certain Mrs Hinch. We thought, hey, why don’t WE get in on the act. You KNOW how much we love cleaning in the KiddyCharts household. *cough, splutter, faint* We decided that we’d give you our top cleaning tip; laminate flooring.

Almost as good as the cloth and Zoflora obsession right? So why is it the best cleaning tip ever for the house that is over-run with toddlers, football boots, and paint?

Bet you haven’t thought of all these reasons now, have you?

1. Bright colours to distract

You are going to spend a lot of time on the floor with your babies, so why not give them and you something to look at while you are down there. Babies like black and white patterns when they are younger, and brighter colours as they grow. If you are clever, you might be able to find a pattern that hides the mess as well. Bonus.

2. Grains to hide the scratches

You will drop stuff so much more now you have kids. Oh, and throw stuff too; so will they. This means that your flooring will take a bit of a battering, stomping, scratching, and everything else -ing!

If you are clever with the laminate you choose, perhaps with a bit of graining, or a wood effect, you can hide the dents where you have thrown their dinner plate in frustration at them not eating for the billionth time. Not that this has ever happened to us, you understand…

3. Simple to make Insta backdrop

Who knew that the floor could be so helpful in your social media career right? And its not a bad place to work either, an you might as well work from there as its easier to distract the toddler when you are on their level, don’t you agree?

4. An alternative to drawing on walls

My kids drew on the walls, didn’t matter HOW MUCH I told them that they couldn’t, they still did.

But then – brain wave – you can use the offcuts from the laminate fitting and make a piece of wall that is PERFECT for them to draw on, and is wipe clean as well.

Why didn’t we think of that before?

Stops you from having to do this of course, when you discover their works of art as well. Though this is rather cute, don’t you think?

5. If you ever decide to have more kids….

And if those reasons aren’t enough for you, you can follow in the footsteps of this mum if you ever decide to have more kids (brave we know!)…

If you get caught out in labour with the baby, then you are well and truly saved because the flooring won’t suffer.

Beige carpet not great for home births; laminate flooring, you are sorted!

The blog works with big family brands (including travel) to help promote their services, as well as offering free resources to parents of kids under 10. It gives 51%+ profits to Reverence for Life, who fund a number of important initiatives in Africa, including bringing running water and basic equipment to a school in Tanzania.
