Encouraging kids to be healthy with Haliborange

We are taking a look at the Haliborange products today on the blog - we have a few parents trying them, as well as my kids. What did we all think of them?

We don’t really do supplements in our house, but that’s mainly because it requires organisation, and I can’t remember my own name some days; nevermind remembering that the kids should be taking their vitamins this morning…however, the idea with Haliborange products is that they are fun and tasty enough for the kids themselves to remind you! Both my kids and myself, as well as another panel of mums, took a look at a number of their products, to see what our kids thought of them:

  • Kids Omega-3 blackcurrant and orange chewable fruit burst capsules for age 3-12,
  • Mr Men Little Miss Multivitamins for age 3-7 (Strawberry),
  • Mr Men Little Miss Immune support for age 3-7 (Blackcurrant),
  • Mr Men Omega-3 softies (Orange)
  • Haliborange Teensense, a vitamin supplement specifically for teens.

What are the Haliborange products all about?

Haliborange is a well known children’s healthcare brand; bought by Seven Seas in 1994. They offer vitamin and immune systems supplements for kids, designed to help your children to cope with modern life, which can be hectic and demanding on their wee grey cells. Products are there to help support mums and dads in offering their kids the best they can; from supporting their immune system, to giving them a little boost to the vitamins and minerals that children get in their diet.

The products for younger kids have the rather wonderful Mr Men and Little Miss on them, which instantly meant that my kids thought they were awesome:

“Oh look, its Mr. Happy!”

This is a great idea as it means that there is instant recognition for younger children, which always helps the process of taking tablets.

The older children’s supplements don’t have Mr Men and Little Miss on the packaging, of course, can you imagine a teen’s reaction to a Mr Man on one of their vitamins *shivers* ;-). The softies range are for the younger children from age one month, right up to seven, but can, of course, be taken by older children if wanted. Their packaging is very effective for teens, with a mouse lurking on there!

What did KiddyCharts think of the Haliborange products?

My daughter loved the Haliborange softies, even my daughter who is meant to be too old for them was quite happy to have a wee chomp….

She told me that the flavour was really nice, and that they were a little bit like sweets. The chewy texture, and the shapes (strawberry and blackcurrants) make them quite exciting for the children as well; keeping that sense of fun from the characters on the bottle.

We have taken a look at the Mr Men softies product for Haliborange. My daughter rather liked them as you can see from this little sequence...though chewing them does make you pull some funny faces!

As usual, I didn’t pay enough attention to the background of my photographs – can you tell I am in the middle of getting the washing out at home *perils of being a working mum*

My son wasn’t as keen on them – but I suspect that’s more to do with him than the product. He is often a little reticent at trying new things – he did give them a go though, thanks to the Mr Men on the packaging, which is actually a bit of a result for him!

Unfortunately, the Omega-3 tablets were less of a hit. The fruit burst liquid resulted in a very favourable reaction:

“Ooh that feels lovely mummy, bit like a little bit of blackcurrant squash.”

However, the outer casing was just too chewy for her, and therefore we weren’t too keen on taking them again. However, she was willing to have them, and just eat the liquid inside! I suspect that the outer shell is required to keen the liquid fresh/effective. We both wondered whether it was possible to make it less rubbery in texture, so it would be more palatable. As the liquid insides are considered so yummy by my daughter, it would definitely make sense to do this!

What did our parents think of the Haliborange products?

We have had various different reactions to the products sent our for review…here they are for each of the relevant products that they have been asked to try:

Overall (All Mr Men range 9/10, Omega 3 Fruit burst 7/10, and Omega-3 90 days 7/10)

Across all the families that used the product, including our own, the Mr Men and Little Miss softies were a massive hit!

The tie-in with the characters is a perfect marriage, with the characters helping the kids to accept the products instantly – no mean feet with something that might be seen to be “medicine.” The daily chews are easy to add into our lifestyles, and are likely to be taken particularly as the kids like the taste so might even remind you. *Result*

If you find that your children are a little fussier than you would like, these vitamins would complement and support their diets well.

The supplements for the older children were a good product, but with a few issues around delivery and the frequency required to take them. This has caused our reviewers average to be lower than for the Haliborange products aimed at younger kids.

We were provided these products for review, and to pass on to other parents. All opinions are our own.

This is a good article on a wonderful product.. since it is in chew-able form, kids will like it and can absorbed by the kids' cells, and contains the right vitamin-minerals for children's perfect health then it is a go for. Kids' cell are so active and permeable to absorb the supplement. Good report.
