Learning colours: Clown colour matching game

We have been a little remiss on the site, and not done too much to help kids with learning colors. But no more! We have a fabulous colour matching game for them this week, using these rather marvellous clowns.

We have a great game to help kids with learning colours - a clown colour matching game. Why not pop over and download now - it's free! #colours #colors #learningcolors #learningcolours #learning #nursery #preschool #clowns

Learning colors is something that toddlers and pre-schoolers love to do, and it’s critical for them to have a good grasp before they go to school. Colour matching is a great way of encouraging this skill with your kids at home. This is also a lovely game to have at any nursery or pre-school to do with the kids. It is bound to make learning colors so much for fun.

It is a really simple idea, and we have outlined on the first color matching sheet, but just in case:

  • Print out the clowns and their hats on card – for extra durability, why not laminate them? It is likely that the kids will be handling them a lot, so lets keep them for as long as we can
  • Cut out the hats and the clowns, and
  • Match the hats with the color of each of the clowns pants. *simple but effective*

We have the following colours for the kids to learn:

  • Blue,
  • Green,
  • Orange,
  • Purple,
  • Red, and
  • Yellow.

Let’s start small and build from there. The clowns are really engaging in these cut outs, so why not get the kids to color their own version too?

If you are looking for some fun board games to play to help with color matching, do check out Red Dog, Blue Dog (UK affiliate link) from Orchard Toys. This is aimed at 2-5 year olds, and is the perfect game to teach basic colours alongside this freebie. Our kids LOVED it.

If you want to check out some other activities on the site, why not have a look at these as well?

  • Colouring for kids – we have LOADS of colouring pages, and pretty much all of them are free. Our site is known for our series of kids and adult colouring. Why not have a look at them?
  • Kindness activities – we love to encourage kindness in our readers, and have a series of posts that help to achieve this. Pop along and take a look.
  • Anxiety in kids can be a big issue – so we have a few articles and printables to improve confidence and try to reduce their worries a little.

If you are looking for something more on learning colours, it is worth visiting some of these other sites for their resources:

We trust that will keep your little ones entertained for a good while yet. If you like the article we have here, and our printables, then do sign up to our site. We have a weekly newsletter; though you can also choose to receive it daily.

Cheers for coming over to see us today, and we so hope that you like us enough to come back another day.

They are really good. I agree that laminating them will make them last longer
