We have a lovely little design pack for you for all those budding artists out there. A Design your own for a few different clothes, so the kids can create their own designs on some simple garments of clothing. They can let their imaginations run wild – we have a few different clothes for them to get busy with.
This is a pack of six colouring / design sheets including:
- T-Shirt; with a pocket,
- Shorts,
- Shirt
- Dress,
- Wedding dress, and
- A free for all!
The idea of this activity is for kids to explore design as well as come up with their own item of clothing to design as well! The pack contains six sheets to help with this, with a few instructions on each page to help inspire children to get creative with their fashion.
Ways to use these with children will vary depending on the time that you have and the age of the children. For example:
- For younger children, encourage them to simply colour them in staying in the lines; the big designs are perfect for younger children to explore colouring in. They can mix their colours, or just simply go where the mood takes them,
- For children at the earlier years in primary or grade school, perhaps we can be a little more adventurous with what we suggest for them. They can maybe add patterns to their clothing? If you want to introduce shapes, colours and symmetry, we can even start thinking a little bit about Math here too!
- For the older children, there is enough blank space on these for them to really design their own clothes. Perhaps they want to create a T-Shirt for their favourite band, or the make a special design based on a place they have visited, or even somewhere they would like to do. Perhaps they have a favourite football, American football, or rugby team? Why not design your own Football Shirt, or copy the shirt of one of your favourite teams?
There are so many ideas for these free-form designs, it should enable you to focus on whatever you want to do.
The final sheet in the pack here is almost completely blank! No, we didn’t accidentally forget to print anything on this one…
For the final sheet within the pack; we are inviting children to create their own garment. How about a Bodycon midi dress or a milkmaid top? Maybe they fancy drawing a pair of shoes, or even a hat? It is entirely up to them what they come up with. Let them decide, and then design that as well.
Hopefully the designs from the previous pages within the pack will inspire them to come up with some wonderful creations?
