(This is a sponsored post) We are a family that loves to travel; we share and create so many wonderful memories together. Our recent trip to Barbados, for example, was exceptional. So many wonderful things to see and do for the kids, and such fantastic days to recall. This is why we were pleased to be asked to take a look at the Photo Journal app; Lifecake.
We LOVE our holidays, but it isn’t as easy to share our travels with our close family and friends as you might think. Some of our family aren’t on Facebook, WhatsApp, or Instagram. Some aren’t tech savvy at all. Those that aren’t averse to a bit of technology, aren’t too keen on social networks as they are a little wary of them; largely due to recent scandals. They are after something that is a little more private, and a lot less complicated.
Photo Journal apps help to get past these fears, and make it a lot simpler to share the life, and specific times, of your family with those you love. It really is as simple as the flick of a button….
Lifecake is a app that allows you to upload, share and buy your photos, but most importantly, gives you a secure place to store them too.
If you have relative overseas, or (like me), have more wary and less tech savvy family, this could well be the way you can bring your family closer together.
Here are some ways we found that Lifecake can help connect your family better:
It’s a private network
May of us are worried that everything we do online can be seen and shared by anyone. We aren’t as savvy as we think we are about the privacy settings on some of the more popular social networks. Did YOU realise that if you aren’t careful when you take pictures, and post them, you could be sharing your location with people? This is a great article on how to share your location safely with your Family on Apple devices.
You can chat around your pictures
One of the reasons we love our social apps is that they allow comments and conversation to take place within them. Lifecake is no different; you are able to comment and chat around the pictures that you post, and keep those conversations as a record of your family’s growth too.
See your family’s pictures within a timeline
Anyone else got an utterly c**p memory; and they can never remember when they did what with their kids, or even sometimes what year they went on holiday to a specific place?
Not only does, the Lifecake Timeline make for a positive experience, so when you are adding your photos regularly, you can see how your baby/child has developed, you can also use it as a much needed aide memoire.
Something to halt the impending grey cell deterioration! 😉
Being able to see everything within that timeline, and to drill down into specific dates, helps your family to feel part of the development of the kids too; they get to take the ride with everyone as well! 😂
Perfect for a quick gift and postcard to friends and family
It can be so, so tough to find the right gifts for family, or to stay in touch in the current fast-moving, bonkers lives that we lead.
The connectivity of the app to a store allowing the creation of photobooks, calendars, phone cases, and postcards enables those gifts, and communications to be just that little bit more accessible for everyone.
In case you wondered – Barbados is known for its Mount Gay Rum – we don’t normally have this prop to hand when taking our photos 😉. The rum has been made on the Island since 1703; so it is almost as famous as the fantastic beaches and weather you can also see in this picture 😀.
Your photos are likely to be in safe hands longer term
Lifecake is part of Canon. So what I hear you say? Well, if you are like me, you are likely to worry that if you store all your photos in an App; what happens if the company that makes that app stops trading? Given the size, and history of Canon, it helps to know that your pictures are in safe hand. You know that photos are being looked after safely and securely on a big brands’ servers.
We all want the company that we save our photos with to still be around when our little ones grow up now, don’t we?
Why not take a look for yourself at Lifecake and see what you think? Anything that can connect your family is something that will enrich your life. There really is nothing like giving Granny or Grandad access to those pics that’ll bring a smile to their faces every single day.
