Decluttering tips: In the kids room

How to make sure your kids room DOESN’T end up looking like this…

This is a sponsored post.

When you have a family, finding space to store things away and keep our houses looking tidy can be a bit of a challenge. Using the space in your children’s bedroom can make a big difference, so here are some top decluttering tips for any kids bedroom.

Stick it under the beds

Beds take up a lot of space, particularly in the smaller rooms. That’s a lot of extra possible under bed storage Measure the width and height of space under the bed and then go and get containers which will fit under there easily. The ideal containers would easily glide out and open at each side, so that you have easy access to items regardless of what side of the bed you are on. There are vacuum storage bags that will greatly increase the  amount that you  can store by compressing the clothes. This is a good solution for the little ones seasonal clothes.

Maximise Your Closet

A well designed closet can make a big difference in a kiddies room. I would stay away from the conventional and find something that has many compartments. This way, you can actually use all of the space, and you will find that it is easier to keep it tidy. You can also get storage totes that you can put on the top of the wardrobe to neatly use up the space on top.

Think vertically – create shelving on the walls

If you have normal wardrobes in their (or even your room), you could increase your wardrobe space by adding “hanging shelves” in the  wardrobe space. These can be great for things like shoes that quickly clutter up the floor.

Hanging storage bags for kids rooms

Kids storage bags are a cheap and efficient way to de-clutter their rooms. They come in a variety of sizes which can deal with the messiest of rooms. They are made from solid material which means they can deal with clothes, shoes, toys, and beyond; all in the one place. Most come with plastic on the inside which makes them very easy to clean. It tends to be easier for children when cleaning up if they only have to place stuff into bags as opposed to dealing with hangers. It can also double as a fun learning process. If you label certain bags for specific items, it can teach the child organisational and sorting skills.

Beds that double as storage

There are an abundance of beds on the market which offer built in storage which allows you to use space around the bed in a much more efficient manner. For example, drawers under a bed significant inrease the storage space a room has. These types of beds can be more for adults, but do keep an eye out for them for kids rooms too. In addition, why not consider a mid-sleeper? These often have a chest of drawers, or even a pull out desk, which can transform a room. These are suited to small homes and apartments where space can be a bit tight.

When having a general tidy up or sorting everything an option to always consider is taking things to a secure storage company. You know its going to be safe and you can keep it there for as long as you need.
