Parent Blogging All Stars #25: Mummy Alarm

Mummy AlarmThis week’s Parent Blogging All Star is Carolin of Mummy Alarm who first started reading parenting blogs just after she fell pregnant and felt motivated to write her own.  Find out more about her here:

Your Name:

Carolin Mader

Blog Name:

Mummy Alarm

What are the sexes and ages of your children?:

I have one little girl, who’ll be three at the end of April.

What got you into parent blogging?:

I got into reading parenting blogs just after I fell pregnant with Amy and Carol from New Mummy’s Tips (http://newmummystips.blogspot.co.uk/) really motivated me to give it a go myself. I have been writing (for myself and professionally) for most of my adult life and I saw blogging as a great way to record our life for us as well as family and friends abroad.

What is your top parenting tip to share with our readers? Can be on any topic for little ones :-) (under 8s):

Trust your instincts. There’s so much great and not so great advice out there and sometimes it can be hard to know what’s right for you and your child. When things get overwhelming and everyone suggests something different, take a step back and listen to what your heart tells you.

Can you share a parenting advice post with us from your blog too; your favourite one? Why do you like this post? Please include the link for us.:

I haven’t written any parenting advice posts because I think parenting is a very individual matter. Something that works for my family might not work at all for someone else.

Who’s your favourite parent blogger at the moment and why? Please include a link to their blog home page.:

I have hundreds of blogs in my Feedly list, but two blogs that I’ve been enjoying a lot recently are Oh So Amelia and In The Playroom. Oh So Amelia has the perfect mix of parenting and lifestyle topics for me In The Playroom is the perfect read, if you want to read about fun activities for children.

Helen is a mum to two, social media consultant, and website editor; and this site is (we think) the only Social Enterprise parenting magazine! Since giving up being a business analyst when juggling travel, work and kids proved too complicated, she founded KiddyCharts so she could be with her kids, and use those grey cells at the same time. KiddyCharts has reach of over 1.1million across social and the site. The blog works with big family brands (including travel) to help promote their services, as well as offering free resources to parents of kids under 10. It gives 51%+ profits to Reverence for Life, who fund a number of important initiatives in Africa, including bringing running water and basic equipment to a school in Tanzania. Helen has worked as a digital marketing consultant (IDM qualified) with various organisations, including Channel Mum, Truprint, Talk to Mums, and Micro Scooters. She loves to be creative in the brand campaigns she works on. Get in touch TODAY!

Gathered Again

Thursday 3rd of April 2014

Hi Helen,

Thanks for sharing Carolin's interview. I really respect the fact that she acknowledges that different things work for different people. When I first had my son, so many people had their own opinions on what I needed to do for my family. Fortunately for me, I didn't give in, and I did the things that I felt in my heart were right and I wouldn't change a thing. It's been a wonderful ride so far. I love my family, and I love being a mom.

All the best, Laura
