Christmas Jumper Day (13th Dec): Make the world better with a sweater

Save the Children are doing something fantastic for Christmas; not only are they trying to make the world better as always, they are getting more and more people to don their Christmas jumpers and make a right royal fool of themselves…can’t be a bad thing, right? Even Bruno from Strictly is getting in on the act…

Christmas Jumper Day: Bruno

What is Christmas Jumper Day (Friday 13th December)?

All you need to do is wear your Christmas Jumper for the day, and donate £1 or more to the Save the Children cause at www.christmasjumperday.org Jumpers are available if you don’t have your own, and most importantly £25 for every jumper in the Save the Children range at John Lewis goes to the charity as well.

What’s this about World Records?

Even better than this though, Save the Children are teaming up with Arlene Philips to try and break a world record for the most people in Christmas Jumpers all gathered together in the same place:

Help Save the Children to make history by donning your Christmas jumper and joining them at Westfield London on Friday 13th December – sign up to take part at www.christmasjumperday.org/worldrecord and don’t forget to donate your £1 to Save the Children at www.christmasjumperday.orgOnly pre-registered participants will be given access to the area on the day. Once registered you will receive a confirmation email with all the necessary details required to take part on the day.”

I know it is late in the day, but why not pop along and check it out.

How else can we help?

There are other ways that you can help as well:

  1. Donate by text; You can donate by texting TEAMTHINLYS to 70050
  2. Donate online; as detailed above
  3. Donate straight to the fund by TEXTING WOOLLY to 70050 to donate £1; you will be billed £1 plus your standard rate, with at least 0.99p going to Save the Children
  4. If you are at home, then join in the Bloggers Twitter Party along with the wonderful blogging networks on Friday this week from 1-2pm. There is going to be a bit turn out with  Tots100MumsNet Blogger NetworkNetMums BloggersBritMums, Blogs Up North and Love All Blogs all agreeing to come together to help out, thanks in particular to the efforts of both Save the Children and the lovely Thinly Spread. If you do attend, don’t forget to share an Xmas selfie of you in your scrummy jumper with everyone. No crumbs on the jumpers of course ;-) I shall be there, and I will definitely have a jumper as well. I am not posting it yet though, hubby has bought one for me as a surprise *ooh*

Helen is a mum to two, social media consultant, and website editor; and this site is (we think) the only Social Enterprise parenting magazine! Since giving up being a business analyst when juggling travel, work and kids proved too complicated, she founded KiddyCharts so she could be with her kids, and use those grey cells at the same time. KiddyCharts has reach of over 1.1million across social and the site. The blog works with big family brands (including travel) to help promote their services, as well as offering free resources to parents of kids under 10. It gives 51%+ profits to Reverence for Life, who fund a number of important initiatives in Africa, including bringing running water and basic equipment to a school in Tanzania. Helen has worked as a digital marketing consultant (IDM qualified) with various organisations, including Channel Mum, Truprint, Talk to Mums, and Micro Scooters.
