Introducing my best business blog award…

Had you kidding there didn’t I? I didn’t really win the Best Business Blog category at the MAD Blog Awards, the wonderful Fiona did from Coombe Mill and she thoroughly deserved it, both for her lovely golden dress, and her lovely blog. The other ladies in the category, Bizzy Mum, Mummy Whisperer and Littlesheep Learning all agreed as well.

However, my little Chatterbox daughter didn’t and she made me this award card and picture. And its exactly what I wanted. Bet you wish you had one too, eh Fiona! ;-)

Best Small Business Blog Awards: From my lovely daughter...

Best Small Business Blog Awards: From my lovely daughter…”Awards Dinner Award is Awarded to Helen Neale…1st Helen Finished”…roughly translated!I had a fantastic evening on Friday at the MAD Blog Awards, despite not winning.

I had a fantastic time at the MAD Blog Awards on Friday last week. I was dressed beautifully by Little Black Dress, so much so that even Mammasaurus was tempted to give me a little kiss…more photos to be added when the official ones go live…

You can’t see the lovely split in the dress here – but it was worth the kiss!

I had my nails, hair and even lips made all sparkly by Regis UK and my good self; proving that I can do make up if I could only be bothered…

And most importantly, I met some wonderful bloggers and tweeters that I have only dreamt of up until now (ahem). Bizzy Mum held my hand, Cambridge Mummy pinched my bum (only once disappointingly), the wonderful organisers kept my glass full, and the Skoda Yeti kept my seat warm when I ran off to go for a wee…

Best Business Blog: The Infamous Yeti...

The Infamous Yeti…

The winners all thoroughly deserved their awards, so fantastically well done everybody that now has something a little new for their homes. There really is some stunning writing talent out there; not least on the table I sat on on with both Adventures of an Unfit Mother and Growing Spaces picking up awards for their categories. But table 12 wasn’t just about that; we rocked anyway, with the lovely Yeti ladies from Skoda, Diary of a Premmie Mum, Mums Gone To, Lulastic and myself all having a ball despite not having met each other until that night. I think the Yeti helped a lot….he got a bit drunk you see and was trying it on with everyone. You can’t trust abominable snowmen….

Best Small Business Blog: Diary of a Premmie Mum shows table 12 rocked!

I managed to meet some of the people I really wanted to, such as Mummy Whisperer, Coombe Mill, Littlesheep Learning, Actually Mummy, Mammasaurus, DorkyMum and I Want my Mummy; all of whom I read regularly. And I also found some new talent which will be gracing my inbox in the weeks to come. So keep up the good work or I’ll be hitting unsubscribe!

The night was all about making new friends, and honouring those that bring a smile to our faces, or a tear to our eye with their well chosen words. Including raising a glass to those that sadly weren’t able to make it; all power to you in these tough times, Multiple Mummy, Multiple Daddy and the children. :-(

Best Small Business Blog: So what happened at the MADS?

So what happened at the MADS?

I for one will remember the night for the people I met, and hope to see again soon. We ought to do it more often. Thanks to Sally Whittle and the lovely Jen Walshaw as well for helping to make it all possible.

And you never know; perhaps the lady at the hotel reception, who asked me if I wanted to book again as I left, will hear from me next year  – as long as I keep up the good work too, that is….

Did you go to the MADS? Did you follow it on Twitter? Did you have a great time? Share your experiences below if you can; as well as your MADS posts :-)

Helen is a mum to two, social media consultant, and website editor; and this site is (we think) the only Social Enterprise parenting magazine! Since giving up being a business analyst when juggling travel, work and kids proved too complicated, she founded KiddyCharts so she could be with her kids, and use those grey cells at the same time. KiddyCharts has reach of over 1.1million across social and the site. The blog works with big family brands (including travel) to help promote their services, as well as offering free resources to parents of kids under 10. It gives 51%+ profits to Reverence for Life, who fund a number of important initiatives in Africa, including bringing running water and basic equipment to a school in Tanzania. Helen has worked as a digital marketing consultant (IDM qualified) with various organisations, including Channel Mum, Truprint, Talk to Mums, and Micro Scooters.
