Simple pencil pot Frankenstein craft for kids this Halloween

This month, we have not one but TWO crafts for you for Halloween – think we got a bit monster gung ho….here is the first one, and come back next week for our Spider Treat or Treat bags do.

A simple frankenstein craft for halloween for the kids; decorating a pencil pot to make it look like Frank from Hotel Transylvania.

My daughter was determined to try and recreate a little bit of the Hotel Transylvania magic that we have had recently in the household and on the blog with our colouring pages and the visit to the film. We have therefore made rather a cute little Frank pencil/pen tin for all the kids tat are just rubbish at keeping their pens and pencils in one place…and the adults too.

Materials

  • Simple pencil pot
  • Green card
  • Purple card (optional)
  • Black card (optional)
  • Googly eyes (optional)
  • Two small corks (from small test tube bottles)
  • Bostik glue dots
  • Bostik white glue
  • Googly eyes
  • Black market pen

Method

1. Cut out a piece of green card so its the same size as the pencil pot, and fits all the way around – no gaps! Glue this on with the Bostik White Glue.

2. Remove the corks from your two little test tubes and clue them on to the side of the pots with your glue dots.

Adding the corks to the side of the pencil pot mean your Frankenstein raft takes shape.

3. Cut out two purple circles, or grab a purple crayon, and colour in the Frankenstein cheeks on your pot.

4. Let your child’s imagination run wild with the designs on his face; my daughter kept it simple with a bit of a stitch, black eyes, nose and mouth; but you could go all out with Google eyes if you like, and stick them on with Bostik glue dots.

5. Cut a strip of black card, about 1-1.5cm in wide, and make one of the edges jagged, by cutting it into triangles all the way around. Stick this at the top of the pot, where you will be popping in your pencils. My daughter decided not to cut out Frank’s hair, but to draw it on instead though.

6. Add in your pencils, preferably black ended ones, as they look much more authentic as the hair then! ;-) Voila – your finished Frank!

We hope you have enjoyed this craft, do check out the other #BostikBlogger crafts on Twitter, as well as the other crafts that we have on the blog. We are getting so much better at them now ;-)

We do find a lot of great crafts on Pinterest as well, so check out our Crafty Fun for the Kids board, which gives you a lot more ideas. We even have a Halloween specific board for you to explore at this time of year.

Note: My daughter is ten and took all these pictures herself on my iPhone. They are copyrighted Chatterbox; didn’t she do brilliantly?
